Troops Sustain Offensive In Borno, Neutralise Terrorists, Force Surrenders
Relentless military pressure is steadily shrinking the operational space of Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Borno State, as troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) record fresh battlefield successes.
In the latest push under Operation DESERT SANITY V, troops intensified operations along the Azir-Wajiroko axis on 10 January 2026, forcing 11 terrorists to surrender, alongside their AK-47 rifles and assorted ammunition.
The surrender underscores the mounting pressure on terror elements struggling to withstand sustained military offensives.
A statement signed by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, said a day earlier, on 9 January 2026, troops carried out coordinated clearance operations in the Bulaagalda cluster, dismantling multiple terrorist enclaves at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile.
Notable among the destroyed hideouts were the notorious Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed camps, where troops also crippled logistics networks and recovered terrorist flags, weapons and magazines.
Further operations in Yale and Bula Gaida forced fleeing terrorists to abandon weapons and logistics facilities, including a general-purpose machine gun.
Acting on credible intelligence, troops also engaged JAS/ISWAP fighters between Sojiri and Kayamla villages, neutralising eight terrorists and recovering additional AK-47 rifles.
In a related breakthrough, two suspected terrorist logistics collaborators were arrested in Gubio Local Government Area for supplying critical support to insurgents.
Military authorities say troops remain resolute in sustaining the momentum, dismantling terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace across the North East.
