Troops Foil Borno Ambush, Kill Three Terrorists, Recover AK-47
Terrorists targeting a key supply route in Borno State were stopped in their tracks after troops of Operation Hadin Kai fought through an ambush and neutralised three attackers.
The incident occurred at about 8:30am on Tuesday along the Miyanti, Banki Junction axis in Bama Local Government Area, where troops of 151 Task Force Battalion were conducting operations on the Main Supply Route.
According to the Joint Task Force, the attackers opened fire after triggering an improvised explosive device (IED).
The troops responded immediately, fought through the ambush and searched the area, killing three terrorists.
They recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, 14 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and another IED.
One soldier was injured in the encounter and evacuated for medical treatment.
He is reportedly stable and responding to treatment, while a gun truck sustained minor damage.
The military said the operation underscores its efforts to keep critical routes open and deny terrorist groups freedom of movement across the North-East.
It added that troops would maintain pressure on terrorist elements and continue operations to protect communities and vital routes.
