OPHK Dislodges Boko Haram/ISWAP Camp In Adamawa, Kills 21
A joint military operation in Adamawa State has dealt a fresh blow to Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, with more than 21 fighters killed and a terrorist camp dismantled in the rugged Kopre Mountain area of Hong Local Government Area.
The operation, conducted in the early hours of 27 August, involved the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) Tactical Team and newly deployed troops of 226 Battalion under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK).
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops carried out a stealth insertion into the difficult terrain before launching a precision assault on the terrorist enclave.
They engaged the terrorists in two separate encounters, killing more than 21 fighters, while others reportedly fled with gunshot wounds.
The offensive was part of intensified efforts to locate and rescue victims abducted from Mussa community in May and the Lassa schoolchildren taken in June.
After securing the area, the troops dismantled the camp and destroyed logistics infrastructure. Several motorcycles, bicycles and jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit were also destroyed, while troops recovered AK-47 rifles, magazines and a quantity of 7.62mm Special ammunition.
The Joint Task Force said the operation demonstrated the troops’ ability to penetrate difficult terrain and disrupt terrorist operations.
The Military High Command commended the ONSA Tactical Team and OPHK troops for their coordination and professionalism, stressing that operations would continue until the abducted persons are located and rescued.
The offensive comes as security forces sustain pressure on terrorist groups operating across the North-East, with intelligence-led operations focused on disrupting their camps, logistics and freedom of movement.
