IGP Disu Orders Stronger Security Response After Sakaba Attack
The Nigeria Police Force is stepping up security operations in Kebbi State following the killing of 10 police officers and other civilians in a terrorist attack along the Rafin Makuku axis of Sakaba Local Government Area.
Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has directed the deployment of additional operational and intelligence resources to identify and arrest those behind the attack.
On Tuesday, 11 August, Disu sent a delegation led by Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, to Kebbi State to meet Governor Nasir Idris and other stakeholders over the security situation.
The delegation conveyed the IGP’s concern over the deaths and said the Force would intensify intelligence-led operations to prevent further attacks and protect vulnerable communities.
Disu also pledged continued support for the families of the fallen officers, in line with police welfare policies.
Governor Idris commended the officers for their sacrifice and assured the police and other security agencies of continued state support, particularly in intelligence sharing and joint operations against terrorists and other criminal groups.
The police said it would continue working with the state government, other security agencies and local communities to track down the perpetrators and restore security in affected areas.
