Police Arrest 67 Suspects, Recover Drugs, Gun In Four States
Police operations across Kano, the FCT, Ekiti and Ogun states have led to the arrest of 67 suspects, with illicit drugs, a firearm, ammunition and other exhibits recovered.
In Kano, 11 suspected drug peddlers were arrested in Sabon Gari on Tuesday following intelligence-led surveillance.
Police said 60 capsules of Pregabalin, five tablets of Diazepam, 10 tablets of Extol and a large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered.
In the FCT, coordinated raids on criminal hotspots, black spots and uncompleted buildings on Wednesday resulted in 52 arrests. Dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, illicit drugs and knives were also recovered.
Two suspects were arrested in Ekiti after police intercepted an unregistered motorcycle along University Road, Iyin-Ekiti.
Officers recovered a live cartridge and suspected illicit drugs, while a subsequent search of the suspects’ residences led to the recovery of a single-barrel gun.
Meanwhile, police in Ogun arrested a suspect over the alleged defilement of a 17-year-old girl at Warewa.
The victim was rescued and taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Police said investigations into the four operations are ongoing at the respective commands.
