IGP Disu Honours Fallen Police Officer, Assures Family Of Continued Support

Beyond the uniforms and operations, policing often leaves families carrying the heavy burden of sacrifice, a reality the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, acknowledged during a condolence visit to the family of late ASP Ejeh Alfred in Abuja.

The late officer, who served as a driver with the Nigeria Police Airwing, died in the line of duty during an operational mission on 17 April 2026.

During the visit, the IGP sympathised with the widow, Mrs Mercy Ejeh, her children, and the extended family, describing the late ASP Ejeh as a dedicated and professional officer whose service and sacrifice to the nation would not be forgotten.

Disu assured the bereaved family that the Nigeria Police Force would continue to support them, stressing that the welfare of officers and the legacies of fallen personnel remain a priority under his leadership.

He also reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to officers serving on the frontline, noting that their courage and dedication remain critical to national security.

The police chief prayed for the peaceful repose of the late officer and pledged that the Force would stand by the family through the difficult period.
