Akwanga All Stars Honour Danmusa With Patron Role
Sometimes, the loudest applause comes not at the peak of service, but at the moment of bowing out.
In Akwanga, football became the language of gratitude as the community celebrated a man whose impact stretched beyond government offices into hearts and hometown pride.
Akwanga All Stars FC hosted two lively novelty matches on Saturday to honour the retirement of Mr Danmusa Mohammed Oweh, a former Director of Information in Nasarawa State, after 35 years of service.
The games, played at the Rishama College Football Field, ended in draws, Akwanga All Stars 1-1 SWAN Nasarawa, and Friends of Danmusa 0-0 Akwanga All Stars, but the real victory was the tribute paid to a respected public servant.
The event drew notable football figures, including former FIFA U-17 World Cup winner and Nasarawa United captain King Osanga, ex-Nasarawa United skipper Coach Moga Stephen, and former Kano Pillars star Abba Abdullahi, alongside dignitaries from the sports, media, and government sectors.
In a highlight moment, Akwanga All Stars FC unveiled Danmusa as Patron of the club, citing his wealth of experience and commitment to community development.
The plaque was presented by the District Head of Akwanga, His Highness Anthony Yamusa, to loud cheers from supporters.
An emotional Danmusa thanked the club for the honour and pledged continued support for grassroots sports development in Nasarawa State.
Tributes poured in from the District Head of Akwanga and SWAN Nasarawa Chairman, Comrade Smah George, who praised his lasting contributions to the state’s sports and media landscape.
The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, remains the Grand Patron of Akwanga All Stars FC.
