Grace Ike Spreads Christmas Cheer As NUJ FCT Distributes 600 Bags Of Rice To Journalists
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, under the leadership of Comrade Grace Ike, has distributed over 600 bags of rice to journalists in Abuja as part of activities marking the Christmas season.
The annual welfare gesture, now in its second year, is aimed at easing8 the impact of economic hardship on members while strengthening unity and solidarity within the council
Speaking during the distribution, Comrade Ike said the exercise went beyond seasonal charity, describing it as a clear demonstration of the council’s commitment to the welfare of journalists who continue to serve the public under challenging conditions.
She noted that the initiative had recorded a significant impact since its introduction and assured members that the council remained determined to ensure no journalist was left behind, especially during a season symbolising love and generosity.
Earlier, the NUJ FCT Chairman and members of the Executive Council held an end-of-year interactive session with State Executive Council members, where she highlighted achievements recorded so far, including progress on the construction and remodelling of the NUJ Congress Hall.
Participants at the meeting unanimously expressed confidence in her leadership, describing it as proactive, purposeful and performance-driven.
Comrade Ike also commended partners, sponsors and the Executive Council for their support, urging journalists to embrace the spirit of the season with renewed unity and dedication to the ideals of the profession
The initiative once again reinforces the NUJ FCT Council’s focus on journalists’ welfare, compassion and collective responsibility within the union.
