LAJA Hails Air Vice Marshal Ubadike’s Professorship, Celebrates Scholar-Officer Breakthrough
In a country where military leadership and academic excellence rarely intersect, Air Vice Marshal Osichinaka Chiedu Ubadike’s elevation to professorship stands out as a powerful symbol of what disciplined scholarship can achieve in national service.
The League of Anambra Journalists in Abuja (LAJA) has congratulated Ubadike on his appointment as Professor of Aerospace Engineering by the Governing Council of the Air Force Institute of Technology, describing the feat as historic.
He is the first serving officer of the Nigerian Air Force and the first person of Anambra extraction to attain the rank of Professor while in active service.
In a statement signed by LAJA’s Interim President, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, and Secretary, Princess-Ekwi Ajide, the group said the milestone reflects the rare fusion of operational leadership with rigorous scholarship and commitment to nation-building.
Ubadike, an Anambra indigene from Umuoji in Idemili North, graduated with First-Class honours in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and holds advanced degrees from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Ahmadu Bello University and Cranfield University in the United Kingdom.
He has also played key roles in advancing indigenous defence technology, notably within the Nigerian Air Force Unmanned Aerial Vehicle programme.
LAJA said the achievement sends a strong message to young Nigerians that excellence has no boundaries when purpose meets preparation, adding that Ubadike’s journey offers inspiration for aspiring scholar-officers and innovators across the country.
