NCDMB To Spotlight Nwabuikwu’s ‘The Pain and the Promise’ At Fifth Book Reading Session
A book that draws on more than three decades of Nigeria’s politics, public policy and everyday experiences is set to take centre stage as the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) hosts its fifth Book Reading Programme.
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) will on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, host the fifth edition of its Book Reading Programme, featuring writer, journalist, public policy analyst and strategic communicator, Paul C. Nwabuikwu.
The session will focus on Nwabuikwu’s recently published book, The Pain and the Promise: Insights and Fragments on Nigeria and People, Public and Personal, which brings together writings spanning more than three decades of his engagement with Nigeria, its people, politics, economy and public policy.
The programme is part of NCDMB’s effort to promote literacy, critical thinking and knowledge exchange through conversations with Nigerian authors and thought leaders.
Participants will engage Nwabuikwu on issues raised in the book, including leadership, governance, public policy and the human experiences behind major national developments.
Nwabuikwu’s career spans journalism, public policy, strategic communications, advertising, brand building and opinion research.
He began his journalism career in 1988 and worked with leading media organisations including Newswatch, THISDAY and The Guardian.
He also served as Special Assistant on Communications to Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala during her two tenures as Minister of Finance and Head of the Economic Management Team.
The book has received commendation from prominent Nigerian leaders and scholars, including Okonjo-Iweala, former Minister of Aviation Osita Chidoka and Baze University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abiodun Adeniyi.
The fifth edition is expected to attract professionals, students, industry stakeholders and members of the public, building on previous sessions featuring notable authors such as HRM King Bubaraye Dakolo and Dr Dakuku Peterside.
