APC Reshuffles Power Bloc Ahead Of 2026 Convention
With internal alignments quietly shaping the race for influence within Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reconstituted its Central Coordination Committee for the 2026 National Convention, signalling an early move to steady the party’s internal machinery ahead of a pivotal year.
The party announced an adjusted Central Coordination Committee following fresh consultations with its leadership and national stakeholders.
The committee is chaired by former Kebbi State Governor, Sen. Aminu Bello Masari, with former Senate President, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, named Vice Chairman I. Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will serve as Vice Chairman II, while Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, takes the role of Treasurer. Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, was appointed Secretary.
The expansive committee draws heavyweight figures from across the federation, including serving and former governors, principal officers of the National Assembly, party leaders and senior stakeholders.
Among them are Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, Sen. Ahmed Lawan, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, Prof. Babagana Zulum, Abiodun Oyebanji, Umar Namadi, Dikko Radda and several others.
A statement signed by the National Secretary of the party, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, says sub-committees of the Central Coordination Committee will be constituted and announced in due course, as preparations intensify for the convention expected to shape the APC’s internal leadership direction ahead of future electoral contests.
