For thousands of young people seeking a future in science and technology, admission into one of the FCT’s specialised schools could be the first step towards careers in medicine, engineering and other technical fields.

The FCT Education Resource Centre (ERC) has conducted its Science Placement Examination for 3,625 candidates seeking admission into six Science and Technical Schools across the Federal Capital Territory.

Monitoring the exercise, the Director of the ERC, Dr Neemat Daud Abdulrahim, said the examination was conducted in an orderly and coordinated manner, with measures in place to provide candidates with suitable examination conditions.

She said recent improvements to public school infrastructure had also made the exercise easier to manage, particularly through the renovation of school halls that provided larger examination spaces.

According to her, the improved facilities enabled the ERC to reduce the number of examination centres from more than 16 in previous years, making supervision and monitoring more efficient.

Dr Abdulrahim commended the FCT Administration for its investment in school infrastructure, while stressing that effective planning, supervision and cooperation among examination officials, schools, parents and other stakeholders remained essential to credible examinations.

She also appealed to parents and guardians waiting around examination centres to remain patient and security-conscious, assuring them that arrangements had been made for the safety and orderly conduct of the exercise.

The six schools involved are Government Science and Technical College, Area 3 Garki; Government Science Secondary School, Maitama; Government Science Secondary School, Abaji; Government Girls Science Secondary School, Kuje; Government Science and Technical College, Kwali; and Government Science Secondary School, Bwari.

The ERC reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening examination administration and assessment processes to ensure credible, transparent and efficient examinations across the FCT.
