NUJ, Army Forge Stronger Alliance For Peace In Kaduna

As communities in Kaduna and the wider North-West continue to seek lasting peace, the Nigerian Army and journalists have pledged stronger cooperation to tackle insecurity and keep the public accurately informed.

The commitment was made when the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, visited the Kaduna State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to strengthen military-media relations.

Abdullahi, who recently assumed duty, described journalists as critical partners in promoting peace, explaining that effective communication was essential to sustaining security gains.

He said the media played a vital role in both wartime and peacetime, particularly in informing the public about security operations and educating citizens on their responsibilities in building a peaceful society.

“The importance of the media is very critical in both war and peacetime,” he said, adding that journalists helped consolidate the gains achieved by other sectors during periods of relative peace.

Abdullahi noted that his area of responsibility covered Kaduna, Katsina, Kano and Jigawa states, making cooperation with the NUJ particularly important.

The partnership is expected to improve information sharing, strengthen public understanding of military operations and support peacebuilding efforts across Kaduna State and the North-West.
