Army Tightens Security In Kebbe As Lakurawa Threat Persists

The renewed threat from the Lakurawa terrorist group has prompted the Nigerian Army to strengthen its security presence around vulnerable communities in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Major General Bemgha Paul Koughna, on Sunday visited the Forward Operating Base in Kebbe and surrounding communities to assess the security situation following a reported attack on Ungushi.

Koughna met community leaders and residents, assuring them that troops remained deployed and ready to respond to emerging threats.

He urged residents to remain calm, continue their lawful activities and promptly provide troops with credible information on suspicious movements.

The GOC said community cooperation was vital to detecting and disrupting terrorist networks before they could launch further attacks, particularly along the Sokoto-Kebbi border communities.
