AMAC Chairman-Elect Maikalangu Donates Borehole To NUJ FCT, Strengthens Media Ties
In Nigeria’s capital, where politics often meet public scrutiny, infrastructure can also become a symbol of partnership.
Chairman-Elect of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikalangu, has donated a borehole to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, signalling what he described as a commitment to grassroots development and constructive media engagement.
The gesture was announced during a congratulatory visit by the NUJ FCT leadership, led by Vice Chairman Yahaya Ndambabo on behalf of Council Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, following Maikalangu’s victory in last Saturday’s municipal elections.
Ndambabo described the donation as evidence of people-centred leadership, congratulating the chairman-elect on what he called a landslide win rooted in community trust.
He noted that projects executed during Maikalangu’s first term, particularly in Sabon Lugbe and surrounding communities, contributed to renewed public confidence.
Responding, Maikalangu thanked the NUJ for its consistent support and coverage, stressing that “politics is local” and anchored on grassroots connection.
He also credited party unity within the APC for strong voter mobilisation.
The borehole donation, he said, reflects his resolve to sustain collaboration with critical stakeholders, including the media, as he prepares for a second term in office.
