NUJ FCT Chair Grace Ike Joins NIPR, Champions Ethical Communication
At a time when misinformation is reshaping public discourse, the need for credible, ethical communication has never been more urgent, a reality underscored by the latest milestone in Grace Ike’s career.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, Grace Ike, has been formally inducted into the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, signalling a strategic expansion of her influence from journalism into the broader field of public communication.
Speaking at the ceremony in Abuja, Ike described her induction as a defining moment that connects her journalism roots with the evolving demands of public relations.
“This moment marks not just a personal milestone, but a bridge between my roots in journalism and my forward march into the dynamic world of public relations,” she said.
With over two decades of experience, Ike has built a reputation as a strong advocate for press freedom and journalists’ welfare.
Her leadership at the NUJ FCT Council has been marked by efforts to uphold ethical standards and strengthen the media profession.
She stressed that communication remains central to nation-building, noting its power to build trust, shape narratives, and drive meaningful change.
As she joins the NIPR, Ike pledged to uphold ethical storytelling and strategic engagement, while bringing journalistic discipline into public relations practice, particularly in an era dominated by digital disruption and misinformation.
“In an era of misinformation, PR professionals must lead with integrity, fostering dialogue that unites rather than divides,” she stated.
She also reaffirmed her commitment to mentoring emerging professionals and contributing to a more transparent, inclusive, and impactful communication landscape in Nigeria.
The ceremony, which drew key stakeholders across the media and communication sectors, also saw the induction of notable figures including former NAWOJ President, Evelyn Onyilo, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Leke Bayewu, and Ikenna Egwuatu.
