Trump Redesignates Nigeria As A Country Of Particular Concern Over Christian Persecution

In a move stirring global debate on religious freedom, former U.S. President Donald J. Trump has redesignated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC), citing what he called the “mass slaughter of Christians” by radical Islamists.

In a statement issued from the White House, Trump warned that Christianity faces an “existential threat” in Nigeria, claiming that thousands of Christians have been killed in recent years.

“When Christians, or any such group, are slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria, 3,100 versus 4,476 worldwide, something must be done!” he declared.

Trump said he had directed Congressman Riley Moore, Chairman Tom Cole, and the House Appropriations Committee to urgently investigate the situation and recommend action, adding that the redesignation was “only the beginning.”

“The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities occur,” Trump stated. “We have a moral obligation to defend persecuted Christians around the world.”

His statement has sparked global reactions, with human rights and faith-based organisations urging the Nigerian government to intensify efforts to curb religious violence, protect vulnerable communities, and hold perpetrators accountable.
