RATTAWU Leadership Seeks Strategic Partnership With NTA, Unveils 12-Point Agenda For Members’ Welfare
The newly elected leadership of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU), led by its President, Prince Emeka Kalu, has paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Salihu Mohammed Dembos, as part of efforts to strengthen strategic partnerships and revitalise the Union’s operations.
Speaking during the visit, Prince Kalu noted that the engagement with NTA was crucial to laying the groundwork for the Union’s 12-point agenda, which centres on improving the welfare of members.
He stressed the need for a special media and cultural salary structure that truly reflects the risks and contributions of media professionals, especially those serving government institutions.
According to him, RATTAWU members are often exposed to challenging conditions in the line of duty, yet their contributions remain undervalued.
His administration, he said, is determined to change this narrative by championing fairer remuneration, ending the poaching of members by other associations, and recognising the contributions of both old and retired members.
Responding, the DG of NTA, Salihu Mohammed Dembos, commended the Union for its renewed sense of purpose and pledged NTA’s full support for its activities.
He called on RATTAWU members across the country to rally behind the new executive and embrace unity in their pursuit of collective goals.
“NTA is ready to partner with RATTAWU on all fronts. I urge the Union to always work as a team and prioritise the interests of the Union above individual ambitions.
That is the only way we can achieve meaningful progress,” Dembos stated.
The visit marks a promising start to what many hope will be a new era of collaboration and improved working conditions for media and arts professionals in Nigeria.
