Anambra Police Hailed For Securing Crime-Free Imoka Festival

The Anambra State Police Command has earned high praise from stakeholders, traditional rulers, and residents for ensuring a peaceful and incident-free 2025 Imoka Festival in Awka.

The cultural celebration, renowned for its vibrancy, went off without a hitch, no violence, cult clashes or public disturbances were recorded.

This success has been largely attributed to the Command’s proactive security approach, including the strategic deployment of joint security teams and strong community engagement.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Awka, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations, DCP Ezekiel Ibrahim, who represented the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, thanked the people of Awka and festival organisers for their cooperation and respect for the law.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining security across all cultural and social events in the state and stressed the importance of community collaboration in crime prevention.

“The Command remains dedicated to people-oriented policing that promotes peaceful coexistence and respects the rights of law-abiding citizens,” he stated.
