Troops Crush Terrorists, Foil Oil Theft Worth Over ₦146 Million in Bold Nationwide Operations

In a sweeping display of strength and strategy, Nigerian troops have dealt a heavy blow to terrorists, bandits, and oil thieves across the country, foiling oil theft operations valued at over ₦146 million and rescuing dozens of kidnapped victims.

From the creeks of the Niger Delta to the forests of the North East, the Armed Forces sustained high-tempo operations from 5th to 11th June, 2025.

Troops of Operation DELTA SAFE uncovered and destroyed 21 illegal refining sites, seizing 142,960 litres of stolen crude oil and thousands of litres of illegally refined products.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye who disclosed this while presenting the weekly operations of troops across theatres noted dozens of crude oil ovens, boats, drums, and stolen vehicles were destroyed, and 23 suspected oil thieves arrested.

He confirmed that, in the fight against terrorism, troops of Operation HADIN KAI in Borno and Yobe states recorded major successes as scores of ISWAP and Boko Haram members including women and children surrendered.

According to him, raids in Gwoza, Ngala, and other locations led to the neutralisation of terrorists, rescue of kidnapped victims, and arrest of collaborators including a Chinese national.

Kangye diclosed that in the North West, Operation FASAN YAMMA troops clashed with terrorists in Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Katsina states, rescuing victims and recovering arms, ammunition, and motorcycles.

Similar successes were recorded in Plateau, Kaduna, Benue, and Nasarawa under Operations SAFE HAVEN and WHIRL STROKE, with troops dismantling extremist hideouts and returning stolen livestock.

He said that in the South East, troops of Operation UDO KA intensified operations in Anambra, Ebonyi, and Abia states arresying two extremists, neutralised one, and recovered weapons, stolen vehicles, and laptops.

Major General Kangye, commended the troops’ gallantry and stressed the importance of public support in ending insecurity.

“The resilience and professionalism of our personnel are commendable. Together with the Nigerian people, we remain steadfast in our resolve to restore peace and stability to every corner of our great nation,” he stated.
