Police Rescue 11 Kidnap Victims, Arrest Two Suspects As IGP Rallies Officers To Crush Crime

In a series of bold operations across Katsina and Delta States, the Nigeria Police Force has rescued 11 kidnapped victims, arrested two suspected kidnappers, and recovered a cache of deadly weapons marking a significant win in the ongoing war against violent crime.

In Katsina, a joint task force comprising police and sister security agencies foiled a kidnap attempt on the Danmusa, Mara Dangeza village road on 8th June.

Armed bandits engaged the operatives in a fierce gun battle but were overpowered, forcing them to abandon their victims and flee with gunshot wounds. All 11 victims were rescued unharmed.

Meanwhile in Delta State, police operatives acting on solid intelligence arrested 30-year-old Abubakar Hassan, said to be a kingpin in a cross-state kidnapping syndicate operating across Delta, Rivers, Imo, and Enugu States.

He led officers to a forest hideout in Ozoro, where two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, and 32 rounds of live ammunition were recovered. His arrest follows that of three other gang members.

Additionally, officers on Safer Highway Patrol duty intercepted a suspect, Obi Ezekiel (38), during a routine stop-and-search along Ughelli Road.

A locally fabricated revolver, pump-action rifle, and 15 live cartridges were discovered in his vehicle.

Commending the gallant efforts, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun praised the professionalism and courage of the officers involved and urged all commands nationwide to maintain the momentum. “We will not allow any safe haven for criminals within our borders,” he declared.

The police force has reaffirmed its commitment to stamping out violent crime and ensuring safety for all Nigerians.
