NPF Reactivates Digital Tinted Glass Permit System to Boost Security, Public Trust
In a decisive move to enhance national security and public confidence, the Nigeria Police Force has reactivated the issuance of Tinted Glass Permits (TGP) nationwide through a newly upgraded digital platform — www.possap.gov.ng.
The initiative, directed by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, follows growing complaints over the harassment of motorists using factory-fitted tinted windows.
It aims to introduce a transparent, accountable, and tech-driven process to regulate tinted glass usage, while curbing its exploitation by criminals.
With reports linking tinted vehicles to crimes like kidnapping, “one-chance” robberies, and armed attacks, the NPF says the digital system — which includes identity verification via NIN and TIN, biometric capture, and QR-coded permits — will strengthen investigative capacity and ensure only legitimate users are approved.
A 30-day grace period starts May 1, 2025, after which enforcement will begin.
The Force warns that any officer found harassing or extorting motorists under the guise of enforcement will face strict disciplinary action.
IGP Egbetokun urges Nigerians to embrace the user-friendly platform as part of efforts to build a safer, smarter, and more secure nation.
