IGP Reaffirms Commitment To Global Synergy In Crime Fighting, Hosts UK Home Office Minister
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has reiterated Nigeria’s resolve to strengthen international collaboration in the fight against transnational crime, especially cybercrime.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the UK Home Office Minister, Honourable Lord David George Hanson, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the IGP described the engagement as a testament to the enduring partnership between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Lord Hanson acknowledged fraud as a pressing concern for both nations, commending the existing cooperation with the Nigeria Police Force in clamping down on cybercriminals.
He hinted on plans to formalise the partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which would pave the way for deeper collaboration.
The IGP, in response, welcomed the initiative and proposed the establishment of a fellowship exchange programme with the UK’s National Crime Agency, aimed at building long-term capacity and intelligence sharing.
The visit marks another milestone in the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to global alliances in curbing cross-border criminal activities.
