CAS reaffirms NAF’s commitment to accountability, financial discipline

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, to accountability and financial prudence as essential to its operational success.
Speaking at the NAF 2024 Financial Seminar, Air Marshal Abubakar, stressed that effective resource management is essential for modern air power.
He emphasised that accountability is not only an operational requirement, but a moral duty, calling on all officials to uphold these values.
The CAS commended the Accounts and Budget Branch for organising the workshop and encouraged participants to explore innovative ways to improve NAF’s capabilities and ensure responsible use of funds.
He asked them to fully engage in discussions and contribute to the continuous improvement of the financial systems of NAF.
Speaking, Head of Accounts and Budget, Air Vice Marshal CU Nwagwu, outlined the objective of the workshop to include improving the financial management skills of NAF personnel in support of air power.
The seminar, tagged “Fostering a Culture of Accountability in NAF Finances” promotes transparency, ethical behavior and optimal use of resources.
The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Lydia Jafiya, who delivered a keynote address emphasised the crucial link between security and economic stability, stressing the importance of good financial management to ensure national security.
A statement by the Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information Nigerian Air Force, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, said the two-day seminar brought together key figures from various sectors of government and senior officers of the NAF, with the aim of strengthening the financial systems of the NAF and increasing its capacity to effectively address security challenges.
