NAF Strikes Terrorist Stronghold In Zamfara After Large Motorcycle Convoy Returns

The Nigerian Air Force has stepped up aerial pressure on terrorist networks in Zamfara, launching overnight strikes on suspected positions in Bagega Forest, Anka Local Government Area, after a large convoy of armed terrorists reportedly returned to the area.

Local sources said the convoy, involving hundreds of motorcycles, had returned from operations around the Zamfara-Sokoto border before the airstrikes targeted suspected terrorist locations inside the forest.

Residents reported intense aerial activity followed by explosions across parts of the forest, in what appears to be another attempt by the military to disrupt terrorist movements and deny armed groups freedom of action along the forest corridors.

The Bagega axis has previously come under military air and ground operations targeting terrorist networks operating across Zamfara and neighbouring states.

The latest strikes underscore the continued use of air power to track and hit terrorist concentrations as security forces seek to prevent the regrouping of armed groups in remote forest areas.

The number of targets struck, the extent of damage and possible casualties among the terrorists could not be independently verified as of the time of filing.
