Obidigwe Woos Okonmah’s Supporters, Seeks Unity Ahead Of 2027 Poll
The real political test for APGA ahead of the 2027 election may not lie in its primary alone, but in how effectively it reconciles rival camps afterwards.
Against that backdrop, the meeting between Hon. Benjamin Obidigwe and supporters of Dr Bob-Manuel Okonmah signals an effort to close ranks ahead of the poll.
The APGA candidate for Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, Hon. Chief Benjamin C. Obidigwe, popularly known as Akaoma Jide Aku, has reached out to supporters of Dr Bob-Manuel Okonmah in a bid to consolidate the party’s strength ahead of the 16 January 2027 election.
The engagement, held on Sunday, 6 September, brought together coordinators and women leaders of the Akalaka Anam Support Movement from the constituency’s 25 political wards.
Represented by his Assistant on Media and Publicity, Hon. Dominic Okagbue, Obidigwe appealed for unity, inclusiveness and reconciliation following the party’s primary election.
The meeting also highlighted APGA’s Onye Aghana Nwa Nne Ya philosophy and the need for members who contested the primary to work together for the party’s success.
Okonmah was commended as a disciplined and articulate party loyalist whose support for Obidigwe was described as an important step towards strengthening APGA in the constituency.
Okagbue urged the Akalaka Anam coordinators and women leaders to take ownership of Obidigwe’s campaign and mobilise support at the grassroots.
“We called on them to own this project and ensure that they deliver their polling units for APGA,” he said.
He added that victory would only be meaningful if it translated into tangible benefits for constituents, promising that Obidigwe would prioritise grassroots projects, youth and women empowerment and regular engagement with communities.
The meeting also featured ward-level introductions and group photographs, with Okagbue accompanied by Engr. Alex Ogugua.
The engagement is the latest effort to bring APGA’s various support blocs together as the party prepares for a closely watched contest in Anambra East and West.
