JAMB 2026: Police Moves To Quell Panic, Deploy Nationwide Security Ahead Of Exams

In a climate where misinformation can easily trigger public anxiety, the Nigeria Police Force has stepped in to reassure millions of candidates and parents ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed as unfounded recent rumours alleging insecurity at some examination centres in a North Central state, insisting that there is no credible threat to the forthcoming exams organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, scheduled to begin on 16 April 2026.

In a statement issued on 14 April in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the police acknowledged public concerns but emphasised that proactive measures have already been put in place to guarantee safety.

According to the Force, enhanced security has been deployed across examination centres nationwide.

This includes both overt and covert operations, routine patrols, perimeter surveillance, and the positioning of rapid response teams at strategic locations.

The police also confirmed ongoing collaboration with other security agencies to monitor and neutralise any potential threats.

The NPF warned that any attempt by individuals or groups to disrupt the examination process would be met with swift action, assuring that perpetrators would be identified and prosecuted.

Candidates have been advised to arrive early at their centres, comply with examination guidelines, and promptly report any suspicious activities to security personnel on ground.

The public was also urged to disregard unverified social media reports and rely solely on official communications from JAMB and the police.

Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding national activities, the police expressed confidence that all necessary arrangements are in place to ensure a smooth and secure conduct of the examinations.
