Soludo’s Second Term Begins Amid High Expectations, Renewed Hope For A Greater Anambra – LAJA
For many Ndi Anambra, the commencement of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s second term is more than a routine political transition, it is a powerful reaffirmation of a vision that has steadily redefined the state’s identity, infrastructure, and economic trajectory.
This position was expressed by the League of Anambra Journalists in Abuja (LAJA), which noted that the governor’s re-election reflects growing public confidence in his reform-driven leadership and transformative agenda.
According to LAJA, in a statement jointly signed by its president, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo and Secretary, Princess-Ekwi Ajide, when Soludo first assumed office, expectations were understandably high.
With his pedigree as a renowned economist and former Central Bank Governor, he was widely seen as a leader equipped with the intellect and courage to drive bold reforms.
“Today, as he begins his second tenure, there is an emerging consensus that his administration has not only met expectations but has also laid a solid foundation for a more prosperous and globally competitive Anambra State,” the association stated.
LAJA highlighted that one of the most visible achievements of Soludo’s first term was the significant investment in infrastructure.
Massive road construction and urban renewal projects, it said, have transformed both urban centres and rural communities, opening up economic corridors and improving connectivity.
The association further noted that security, which posed a major challenge at the onset of the administration, received decisive and strategic attention.
“Through coordinated efforts and community-based initiatives, Anambra has witnessed improved safety, restoring confidence among residents and investors,” LAJA added.
On economic development, LAJA commended the governor’s forward-looking push towards a digital economy.
The association observed that the “Smart Anambra” initiative has begun to yield results through investments in technology, innovation hubs, and youth-focused policies.
“These initiatives are not only creating opportunities for entrepreneurs but are also positioning Anambra as an emerging hub for tech-driven growth,” the statement said.
Education and human capital development, LAJA noted, have also received renewed attention, with policies aimed at strengthening the foundation for long-term, sustainable growth.
However, the association stressed that while the achievements of the first term are commendable, expectations for the second term are significantly higher.
It said residents and stakeholders are now looking towards deeper economic expansion, increased job creation, and the consolidation of ongoing reforms.
“There is also a strong call for the strengthening of the state’s security architecture, expansion of industrialisation efforts, and greater support for small and medium-scale enterprises,” LAJA emphasised.
The association described the second term as a critical phase, one that offers the opportunity to transition from foundational reforms to accelerated and inclusive growth that directly impacts the lives of ordinary citizens.
“With continuity in leadership comes the advantage of experience, policy clarity, and the ability to execute long-term development plans without disruption,” LAJA noted.
As the new tenure unfolds, the League expressed optimism that the same energy, innovation, and commitment that defined Soludo’s first term will be intensified.
For Ndi Anambra, it said, the journey towards a greater and more prosperous state is well underway, and this new chapter under Governor Soludo holds even greater promise.
