Blueprint Honours Shaibu As Sports Personality Of The Year
The growing push to strengthen sports training and professional capacity in Nigeria has earned the Director-General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Philip Shaibu, recognition as Sports Personality of the Year by Blueprint Newspaper.
Shaibu received the honour for his contributions to sports development and efforts to reposition the NIS as a stronger institution.
The award was received on his behalf by the NIS Institute Librarian, Dr Omo Atsenokhai, at the ceremony.
Reacting, Shaibu thanked Blueprint for the recognition, saying it would spur him to do more in developing sports and repositioning the institute.
He said the honour also recognised the collective efforts of the NIS management and staff, particularly in improving training, building professional capacity and creating better opportunities for athletes, coaches and sports administrators.
Shaibu reaffirmed his commitment to initiatives aimed at strengthening sports professionals and contributing to the growth of Nigerian sports.
