Police Rescue 19 Personnel, Foil Attacks, Recover Arms In Nationwide Operations
The latest police operations across 10 states and the FCT have resulted in arrests, rescues, firearm recoveries and the disruption of suspected attacks, as security operatives intensified action against criminal groups.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, police operatives in Anambra neutralised two suspected armed criminals during a gun duel and recovered an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action gun and ammunition.
In Kwara, officers arrested a suspected bandit whose phone allegedly contained intelligence on plans to attack Ilesa Baruba, while security operatives in Sokoto repelled an armed attack in Dinawa Village.
Police also rescued a kidnapped woman in Kaduna and recovered a stolen Toyota Hilux traced to Niger Republic through the Kamba border.
In Kebbi, 19 police personnel were rescued following a ferry mishap, although recovery efforts continued for missing personnel and a service firearm.
Other operations recorded arrests in connection with alleged sexual assault, armed robbery, murder and one-chance robbery.
Police also recovered firearms, ammunition, motorcycles and mobile phones in Delta, Enugu, Ebonyi, Lagos and the FCT.
The Force said investigations into the various incidents are ongoing across the affected commands.
