Corps Marshal Orders Nationwide Reform To Tackle Misconduct, Restore Public Trust

In a bold move to rebuild public confidence and tighten discipline within the ranks, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed, has launched sweeping internal reforms across all commands nationwide.

The directive mandates the immediate deployment of the Corps Management Team to field commands for a structured retreat and reorientation programme aimed at recalibrating operational standards and stamping out incivility and unprofessional conduct.

The Corps Marshal made it clear that any behaviour capable of undermining public trust or compromising the agency’s statutory mandate will not be tolerated.

Personnel found guilty of misconduct or abuse of authority, he warned, will face swift disciplinary action in line with established regulations.

According to the Corps Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, the nationwide engagement will focus on strengthening ethical compliance, improving supervisory accountability, standardising enforcement procedures and embedding a citizen-centred approach in daily operations.

Beyond internal restructuring, the management team will also engage key stakeholders and members of the public to gather feedback on service delivery, a move seen as part of a broader effort to promote transparency and continuous improvement.

The reform initiative signals what observers describe as a decisive step towards consolidating professionalism within the FRSC and repositioning it as a responsive, people-oriented institution committed to humane and efficient road safety services.
