NAWOJ Mourns Former FCT Chairperson, Stella Okoh Esene
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has been thrown into mourning following the death of Stella Okoh Esene, a respected media professional and former Chairperson of the NAWOJ FCT Chapter.
In a statement released on Monday, 6th October 2025, the association described Stella as a dedicated and passionate journalist whose commitment to excellence left an enduring legacy in Nigeria’s media landscape.
Until her passing, she worked with True Verdict News, where her professionalism and mentorship inspired many young reporters.
NAWOJ’s National Chairperson, Aisha Ibrahim, and National Secretary, Wasilah Ladan, who jointly signed the statement, expressed deep condolences to Stella’s family, especially her daughter and loved ones.
“Stella’s contributions to NAWOJ and the journalism fraternity will be greatly missed. Her legacy will continue to inspire us to uphold the values of dedication, hard work, and professionalism she embodied,” the statement read.
The association prayed for the repose of her soul and urged members to honour her memory by continuing the work she was passionate about, empowering women in journalism and upholding the ethics of the profession.
