Troops Rescue Federal Polytechnic Rector, 22 Others As Zamfara Kidnap Attempts Fail
A swift military response has once again underscored the critical role of timely intelligence in disrupting bandit attacks and saving lives in Nigeria’s troubled North-West.
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Dr Aminu Yusuf, alongside his wife and two children after armed terrorists invaded their residence in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The military said the attackers stormed the family’s home on Tsohon-Tasha Street, killing the Rector’s private security guard, Malam Isah Bello, 46, and injuring another guard, Sharhabilu Haruna, 35, before attempting to abduct the family.
Troops responded to distress calls, engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle and forced them to flee, abandoning their captives.
In separate operations, troops also foiled kidnap attempts in Tungan Dorawa community, Barkeji village, and rescued businessman Alhaji Azaria, 56, along with 21 other civilians abducted from neighbouring homes.
Security forces further arrested a suspected informant, Falalu Yusuf, 45, who has been handed over to the Divisional Police Officer in Kaura Namoda for investigation.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA commended the troops for their bravery and professionalism, assuring residents that offensive operations against terrorists and bandits would continue while urging communities to keep providing credible intelligence to security agencies.
