Kaduna Police Rescue 75 Kidnap Victims In Birnin Gwari

Seventy-five kidnapped men, women and children have been rescued unhurt by the Kaduna State Police Command after armed men abducted them near Birnin Gwari.

The victims, identified as Fulani travellers, were kidnapped on 19 August 2026 at Folwaya Village while travelling in commercial buses.

The attackers, armed with AK-47 rifles and other weapons, reportedly took them into a forest and hid them in a cave in a mountainous area.

Acting on information provided by the Birnin Gwari branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), police operatives from the Birnin Gwari Area Command moved to the location.

The kidnappers fled on sighting the armed police team, leaving all 75 victims behind. The victims were subsequently rescued without injuries.

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, praised the NURTW for providing timely information and commended the Area Commander and his team for their swift response.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police, while warning against taking the law into their own hands.
