Troops Rescue Abductees, Arrest Terrorist Collaborators In Fresh North-East Operations
As military operations intensify across Nigeria’s North-East, troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded fresh successes in the fight against terrorism, including the rescue of abducted civilians, arrest of suspected collaborators, and recovery of weapons during coordinated offensives across the region.
The Joint Task Force (North East), under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), disclosed that the operations were carried out as part of the ongoing Operation DESERT SANITY V and related siege operations aimed at dismantling terrorist strongholds.
In one of the major breakthroughs, troops operating along the Ngoshe-Amuda axis in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State rescued four abducted victims comprising two women and two children.
The victims identified as Salamatu Sidiq Ali, 19, Halima Idrisa, 20, Umar Abdullahi, 3, and Mustapha Abdullahi, 4, were reportedly abducted during a terrorist attack on Ngoshe community on March 3, 2026.
According to the military, preliminary findings revealed that the victims had been held in a terrorist enclave before their rescue following sustained pressure on insurgent hideouts in the Mandara Mountains.
The rescued civilians were medically evaluated and later reunited with their families through community leaders.
Military authorities disclosed that a total of 65 abducted persons have so far been rescued, while efforts continue to secure the freedom of others still in captivity.
In a related operation, troops arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator, Mrs. Kellu Alhaji Abba, 50, at a checkpoint in Baga, Kukawa Local Government Area.
Items recovered from her included clothing materials and other supplies allegedly intended for delivery to terrorists operating within the Dumba area.
Similarly, another suspect, Amadu Abdu, 50, was apprehended along the Dalori axis while allegedly transporting logistics supplies meant for insurgents.
The military said investigations revealed that the suspect had been supplying items to terrorists in exchange for access to grazing areas.
Recovered items included packaged goods, a mobile phone, a cutlass, suspected illicit substances, and cash.
Troops, in collaboration with local hunters, also arrested four suspected cattle rustlers and terrorist collaborators at Kwaya Kusar Market, where stolen livestock were recovered.
Meanwhile, family members linked to Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters continued to surrender to troops amid intensified military offensives.
Among those who surrendered were Aishatu Sale, 20, in Bama Local Government Area and Hauwa Abubakar, 70, who reportedly escaped from a terrorist enclave in the Mandara Mountains.
The surrendered individuals reportedly cited sustained military pressure and worsening living conditions within terrorist camps as reasons for fleeing.
Troops also recovered an AK-47 rifle and a loaded magazine along a known terrorist withdrawal route during clearance operations.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace, security, and economic stability across the North-East region, assuring residents that operations against terrorist elements would continue until lasting peace is achieved.
The Military High Command commended troops for their resilience and urged them to sustain the operational momentum in the interest of national security.
