Leadership changes often signal where an institution intends to sharpen its focus.
For the Catholic Church in Nigeria, three new appointments at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) are set to strengthen its communications, health and mission work.
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has appointed Rev. Fr. Leonard Ehiemere of the Diocese of Umuahia as Director of the Directorate of Social Communications.
Also appointed are Sr. Dr Bridget Yabo, O.P., a Dominican Sister, as Health Secretary, Department of Church & Society, and Sr. Monica Rowland, SSH, of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart, as Mission Secretary, Department of Mission & Dialogue.
The appointments, announced in a statement signed by the CSN Secretary General, Rev. Fr Michael A. Banjo, took effect from 1 September 2026.
The CBCN congratulated the new officers and expressed hope for a fruitful tenure in service to the Church and society.
