Promotion That Resonates: CLO Hails DCP Nzota’s Rise, Commends IGP Disu

In a system often criticised for overlooking merit, recognition built on performance continues to inspire confidence and public trust.

The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), Anambra State Branch, has praised the elevation of former Onitsha Area Commander, Chidi Nzota, to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police, describing it as a well-deserved reward for professionalism and dedication.

In a statement issued in Awka, the group said Nzota’s promotion by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, reflects his unwavering commitment to duty, patriotism, and excellence in service.

The CLO recalled its earlier call for Nzota’s promotion, citing his proactive policing style, diligence, and role in drastically reducing crime in Onitsha, while restoring public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

Particularly highlighted was his handling of protests following the closure of the Onitsha Main Market, which the group noted was managed without casualties, an approach it described as both strategic and humane.

The organisation expressed confidence in Nzota’s ability to exceed expectations in his new role, while also commending the IGP and the Police Service Commission for recognising his contributions.

Endorsed by its Chairman, Evangelist Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, and Secretary, Comrade Chidi Mbah, the CLO urged police officers and public servants to emulate Nzota’s example, stressing that hard work, integrity, and impact remain key to national development.
