Niger Delta Blue Economy Summit Expands, Opens Key Roles To Drive Sustainable Investment

As global attention increasingly turns to the economic potential of oceans and coastal resources, Nigeria’s Niger Delta is positioning itself as a strategic hub for blue economy investment and innovation.

Following the success of its inaugural gathering, organisers of the Niger Delta Blue Economy Investment Summit have announced plans for a more ambitious second edition, alongside the recruitment of two key professionals to help scale the platform’s impact.

The summit, which brings together leaders from government, the private sector, development finance institutions, academia, civil society and coastal communities, is designed to accelerate sustainable economic growth through blue economy opportunities in the Niger Delta.

To strengthen preparations for the next edition, organisers are recruiting a Programme Officer and a Communications Officer for a full-time, project-based engagement lasting between 12 and 18 months, with the possibility of renewal.

According to the organisers, the roles are central to deepening stakeholder engagement, building institutional partnerships and mobilising investment ahead of the upcoming summit.

The Programme Officer will oversee programme development, stakeholder coordination and partnership building.

The role will also involve engaging with federal and state ministries, development agencies, investors, and private sector leaders, while helping to drive fundraising and policy dialogue around the blue economy.

The officer will also coordinate thematic discussions around areas such as blue finance, coastal resilience, renewable energy, fisheries and marine innovation.

Meanwhile, the Communications Officer will lead the summit’s strategic messaging, media engagement and digital visibility.

The role will involve managing media relations, producing press materials, coordinating social media campaigns and ensuring strong brand positioning for the summit as a leading regional dialogue platform on blue economy development.

Organisers say both roles require professionals who are strategic, politically aware and capable of engaging senior stakeholders across government and industry.

Applicants are expected to have several years of experience in programme management, communications, public affairs or development programming, alongside strong writing, stakeholder engagement and organisational skills.

The summit is positioning itself as a catalytic platform to mobilise sustainable investment, promote climate-resilient economic transformation and strengthen public-private collaboration in the Niger Delta.
