Boko Haram/ISWAP Suffer Setback As Troops Repel Night Raids In Borno
When terror groups strike at night, they bank on fear and surprise.
In Pulka and Mandaragirau, that gamble failed.
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI on 14 February 2026 successfully repelled coordinated Boko Haram/ISWAP attacks in the two Borno communities, holding their ground despite fierce, multi-pronged assaults.
Militants advancing from the Sambisa Forest axis attempted to overrun Sector 1 in Pulka, briefly breaching a section of the perimeter and damaging some equipment and accommodation.
Reinforcements from 26 Brigade, backed by superior firepower, forced the attackers into a chaotic retreat towards Sambisa.
Military sources say the terrorists suffered heavy casualties, including a senior commander, Abou Aisha, who reportedly died from a gunshot wound to the neck. No soldier was killed in the Pulka attack.
In Mandaragirau, ISWAP fighters mounted on gun trucks and motorcycles launched a coordinated offensive on Sector 2, but were met by tactically positioned combat teams.
The attack was repelled without any breach, though some soldiers and Civilian Joint Task Force members were killed in action, while others were wounded and evacuated by air for treatment.
Follow-up operations along the Kimba axis revealed blood trails, shallow graves and abandoned items, with eyewitnesses confirming the evacuation of multiple wounded terrorists.
The military high command described the failed assaults as signs of growing desperation among insurgents under sustained pressure, reaffirming its commitment to dismantling terror networks and restoring stability in the North East.
