Soludo Introduces 15 Entrepreneurial Subjects For JSS Students In Anambra
The jobs of tomorrow are not waiting in offices, they are being built in classrooms that teach students how to create, innovate and earn.*
Anambra State is reshaping secondary education by introducing 15 entrepreneurial subjects for Junior Secondary School students, in a bold shift from rote learning to real-world skills.
The new subjects, including Robotics, Solar Installation, Digital Literacy, CCTV/Intercom Installation, GSM Repairs, Agriculture and Processing, Bakery, Garment Making, Plumbing, Tiling, POP Installation, Hairstyling, Make-up and Event Management, were officially unveiled at Igwebuike Grammar School, Awka.
Chairman of the Post-Primary Schools Service Commission, Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu, said the initiative is designed to move students from being job seekers to job creators.
She noted that modern education must equip learners with creativity, innovation and hands-on skills that prepare them for a fast-changing world.
According to her, traditional classroom learning alone is no longer enough, stressing that the new practical subjects will empower students to contribute meaningfully to Anambra’s economy.
Backing the move, Nnamdi Azikiwe University don Cyril Nwuche argued that every secondary school should run entrepreneurship clubs, saying the reform positions Anambra for economic and social transformation.
The policy comes months after the state recruited 8,115 teachers, a major investment in public education under Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.
Officials say the combined push for skilled teachers and skill-based learning signals a new era for education in Anambra.
