Police Celebrate Lawrence Eko Alobi At 76
When experience meets intellect in policing, it leaves a legacy that outlives the uniform, and retired Commissioner of Police Lawrence Eko Alobi embodies that enduring imprint on Nigeria’s security architecture.
The Nigeria Police Force has joined family, colleagues, and the security community in celebrating CP Lawrence Eko Alobi (rtd) as he marks his 76th birthday, describing him as a distinguished officer whose career blended operational excellence, legal scholarship, and public service.
Alobi, who once headed policing in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, played a pivotal role in securing major national and international events, including the African Union Summit, the All Africa Games, high-profile political conventions, and visits by United States presidential delegations.
Beyond policing, he is a seasoned legal practitioner with academic credentials from Bayero University Kano, the University of Calabar, the Nigerian Law School, the University of Maiduguri, and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, as well as the National Defence College.
In retirement, he leads Lawrence Alobi & Co. Law Firm and remains an influential voice on security governance and police reform.
As Executive Director of the Foundation for Peace and Security Education (FOPSE), Alobi continues to advocate for professional policing, humane treatment of citizens, and credible criminal justice processes.
In a goodwill message, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun hailed him as a model of integrity and wished him continued good health and impactful service to the nation.
