Police Arrest Suspects, Rescue Kidnap Victims, Recover Firearms Across Six States
The latest police operations across Nigeria have highlighted a familiar security reality: while criminal networks continue to target communities, intelligence-led policing and rapid response are yielding arrests, rescues and weapons recoveries.
According to the Nigeria Police Force’s operational summary for 5 September, officers arrested suspects linked to murder, armed robbery, attempted murder, child sexual abuse and cult-related activities across several states.
In Anambra, five suspects were arrested over the killing of Isaac Nwosu and three others in Awka, with a pump-action rifle recovered.
Police said one suspect confessed to involvement in an armed robbery during which a victim was shot dead.
In Katsina, tactical teams rescued five residents abducted around Kasuwar Mata Junction in Funtua after forcing the kidnappers to retreat into the bush.
A kidnapped woman was also rescued in Rivers State after police engaged her abductors along Alode Farm Road in Eleme.
Two locally made pistols and live ammunition were recovered from an abandoned tricycle.
Nasarawa recorded two operations, including the arrest of 11 suspected armed robbers and the rescue of a kidnapped woman from Nunku Forest. Weapons, cutlasses, SIM cards and other exhibits were recovered in the robbery operation.
Meanwhile, police in Delta, Ogun, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom reported arrests linked to attempted murder, child sexual offences, cultism and illicit drugs.
The Force said investigations into the various cases are ongoing.
