Police Take Peace Campaign To The Streets As POCACOV Targets Crime-Free Christmas
As the festive season often brings both celebration and heightened security concerns, the Nigeria Police Force has moved beyond patrols to direct community engagement to keep the peace.
On December 19, 2025, the Nigeria Police Force, through its Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) initiative, rolled out a nationwide road walk and public sensitisation campaign aimed at promoting peace and preventing crime during the Christmas season.
The campaign, themed “Promoting Peace, Preventing Crime This Christmas,” saw police officers across all state commands take to major streets and public spaces, engaging residents and educating them on the dangers of cultism, violence and other social vices.
Through face-to-face interactions, the officers encouraged citizens, particularly young people, to shun criminal activities and embrace peaceful coexistence.
The initiative underscores the Police Force’s commitment to proactive, community-driven policing, with POCACOV positioned as a key tool for early intervention, crime prevention and behavioural change.
By taking the message directly to the people, the police aim to reduce festive-season crime and foster stronger trust between law enforcement and communities.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed that ensuring a safe and peaceful environment for all Nigerians remains a top priority, not only during Christmas but beyond, as it continues to work with citizens to build a more secure society.
