CP Orutugu Rolls Out Plan, Disburses ₦33m Welfare Support To Ensure Yuletide Security
As the festive season approaches, a period that often tests the resilience of security agencies, the Anambra State Police Command is moving decisively to stay ahead of potential threats while reinforcing officer welfare.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has commended officers of the Command for their professionalism and discipline during the recent governorship election, describing their conduct as instrumental to the peaceful outcome of the exercise.
Addressing senior officers at the Command Headquarters in Awka, CP Orutugu conveyed the appreciation of the Inspector-General of Police for the exemplary performance of personnel deployed for the election, noting that their commitment reflected the Service’s dedication to democratic stability.
With Yuletide activities fast approaching, the Police Commissioner unveiled a robust security strategy aimed at safeguarding lives and property across the state.
He directed all operational commanders to intensify proactive, intelligence-led policing, enhance visibility patrols and fully implement the Command’s Anti-Crime Strategy to deter criminal activities during the festive period.
CP Orutugu also emphasised professionalism, vigilance and community engagement, urging officers to respond swiftly to any emerging security threats.
In a significant morale-boosting gesture, the Commissioner disbursed cheques amounting to over ₦33 million to 54 beneficiaries under the Group Life Assurance and the Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare Schemes.
The support was provided to families of officers who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
Reassuring residents of adequate security throughout the festive season, CP Orutugu encouraged members of the public to remain law-abiding and promptly report suspicious activities to the Police.
