NAF Airstrikes Shatter Terror Cells In Katsina, Halt ISWAP Push Toward Chibok
In the stillness of dawn on 27 November, a quiet shift unfolded in Nigeria’s long fight against insurgency, one that security insiders say may mark a turning point in two of the country’s most volatile theatres.
What exactly happened in the skies over Katsina and Borno that sent shockwaves through terrorist networks?
According to fresh details from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), a pair of precision airstrikes in Katsina State dismantled major terror strongholds tied to kidnappings, violent raids and livestock rustling.
At about 6:30am, NAF pilots, guided by real-time intelligence, locked onto the fortified hideout of a notorious kingpin operating across Kankara, Faskari and Malumfashi.
The moment the munitions hit, thick plumes of smoke curled above the trees as fighters scattered in panic.
But persistent ISR hovered overhead, tracking every movement.
Those who fled were met with follow-on strikes.
By early evening, tension surged again as aircraft returned to strike a second enclave in Danfako, Faskari LGA, a logistics hub packed with equipment and support structures.
The attack tore through the camp, crippling the group’s operational backbone and cutting off one of their critical safe havens in the North-West.
Hundreds of miles away in Borno, another battle played out, this time on the ground. ISWAP and Boko Haram fighters launched a coordinated push on Chibok, attempting a multi-front assault.
For residents already living with memories of past horrors, the sound of distant gunfire rekindled fear.
But within minutes, NAF jets roared overhead.
Four major airstrikes, triggered by intelligence from troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade, bombarded the insurgents along their escape route.
Visuals from the battlefield showed fleeing fighters scrambling through the undergrowth before precision fire tore through their formations.
Security officials say the integrated air, ground response not only repelled the attack but shattered the insurgents’ ability to regroup, a significant psychological and operational blow.
With both operations delivering heavy casualties to the terrorists, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame affirmed that the NAF remains committed to “precise, surgical engagements” to keep communities safe and restore peace nationwide.
