Late COAS Lagbaja Honoured In U.S. Army War College Hall Of Fame, Marking A Milestone In U.S.-Nigeria Defence Ties
In a symbolic moment that underscores the growing depth of U.S.-Nigeria military cooperation, the late Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Nigeria’s 23rd Chief of Army Staff, has been posthumously inducted into the U.S. Army War College International Hall of Fame.
The honour, announced by the U.S. Mission Nigeria via its official X handle @USinNigeria, celebrates his visionary leadership and enduring contribution to global peace and security.
The induction took place during the AUSA Annual Convention in Washington, D.C., a gathering that brings together global defence leaders and strategic partners.
The recognition places the late General among an elite group of international alumni whose careers embodied exceptional service and strengthened global military collaboration.
In its statement, the U.S. Mission described the honour as a testament to Lagbaja’s legacy and the robust U.S.-Nigeria partnership.
“Congratulations to @HQNigerianArmy on this well-deserved recognition of one of its finest,” the Mission wrote, highlighting the late Army Chief’s impact on modern military leadership.
