FCT Police Debunks Viral Video Claiming Clash With Bauchi Governor’s Entourage

A short clip circulating online this week has once again highlighted how quickly misinformation can spread in the digital age, often distorting events before facts can catch up.

Such was the case on Tuesday after a video emerged alleging that police officers physically confronted the Governor of Bauchi State at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.

However, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has firmly dismissed the claims, describing the narrative around the footage as false, misleading, and completely detached from the actual situation on the ground.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the viral video misrepresented a brief moment when the entrance to the PDP Secretariat became congested ahead of high-level meetings of the Board of Trustees and the National Executive Committee.

She clarified that officers were not involved in any scuffle. Instead, they were seen removing private security guards and bouncers who were obstructing the Governor’s movement.

The action, the Command explained, was taken to ensure the Governor’s unhindered and safe entry into the premises.

“At no point did police officers engage in any physical confrontation or deny the Governor access,” the statement emphasised.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, urged journalists and social media users to verify information before sharing, warning that sensational or unverified content could create unnecessary tension and undermine public peace.

The Command also encouraged residents to seek accurate updates directly from the Police Public Relations Officer via the official contact line.

Reassuring the public, the statement concluded that the FCT Police Command remains committed to maintaining peace, safeguarding residents, and supporting all lawful activities within the Territory.
