Pan-African Parliament Mourns Ghana’s Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings

The Pan-African Parliament (PAP) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Madam Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, former First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, describing her as a “distinguished African amazon” whose legacy transcended borders.

In a condolence message, the President of the Pan-African Parliament extended heartfelt sympathies to the late former First Lady’s family, particularly her daughter, Hon. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, who is a member of the PAP, as well as to the government and people of Ghana.

The statement lauded Madam Agyeman-Rawlings for her unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment, social justice, and public service.

It noted that as Ghana’s First Lady and beyond, she championed the welfare of women and children and paved the way for female leadership across Africa.

“We mourn the loss of a distinguished African amazon whose courage and fortitude in the struggle for women’s emancipation remain a source of inspiration,” the message read.

The Pan-African Parliament prayed for comfort for her loved ones and the Ghanaian nation, adding that her ideals of equity, equality, and justice must continue to guide the continent.

Madam Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings passed on 23rd October 2025.
