NAF Chief Strengthens Defence Ties In China, Explores Advanced Aerospace Technology
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) commitment to global defence partnerships following a week-long working visit to China.
During the visit, which ran from 24 to 30 August, the CAS led a high-powered delegation to major aviation and defence companies across Beijing, Harbin and Chengdu.
The engagements centred on strengthening after-sales support, timely spare parts supply, and expanded training opportunities for NAF personnel.
At Haerbin Aircraft Company, the team inspected the Z-20 utility helicopter, while in Chengdu, they examined the JF-17 fighter aircraft and undertook simulated flights on the JF-17C.
The CAS also visited AVIC’s Unmanned Aerial Systems facility, where he underscored the growing importance of drones in counterterrorism and internal security operations.
Air Marshal Abubakar said the visits demonstrated China’s advanced aerospace capabilities and provided avenues for technology transfer and industrial cooperation.
He stressed that such partnerships align with his vision of building an agile and resilient Air Force to meet Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
