FRSC, EFCC Forge Strategic Alliance To Curb Economic Sabotage and Road Carnage
Nigeria’s fight against economic sabotage and the deadly toll of road traffic crashes has received a major boost as the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) entered into a groundbreaking partnership to tackle both threats head-on.
The strategic alliance, unveiled in Abuja, brings together two of the nation’s most visible institutions in a coordinated push to safeguard lives, protect national resources, and restore accountability in the transport sector.
EFCC Chairman, Mr Ola Olukoyede, said the collaboration was timely, stressing that both agencies share a responsibility to confront practices that harm citizens and undermine economic growth.
He explained that transport operators who flout safety rules not only endanger lives but also commit economic sabotage with ripple effects on national development.
On his part, FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, emphasised that road safety transcends transport concerns, describing it as a national security and economic issue.
He maintained that reckless driving and the resulting fatalities continue to drain Nigeria’s economy, demanding a multi-sectoral response.
The partnership signals a tougher, more coordinated crackdown on economic crimes linked to road transport and a united stand against the culture of impunity on Nigeria’s highways.
According to FRSC, Nigerians should expect a renewed offensive to preserve lives, safeguard resources, and strengthen national prosperity.
